How to copy the right link
Snapchat hands out different link formats depending on where you copy from. Both work here, and you do not need to convert one into the other.
From the Snapchat app
Open the Story, Spotlight video or Highlight you want. Tap the share arrow, then Copy Link. Paste it here exactly as it is.

On a profile the app gives you a link starting with /add/ and the username. That works too and returns everything public on the profile.
From a browser
Go to the profile or video on snapchat.com and copy the address bar. Browser links are longer and spell out what they point at.

The shortest version
Copy whatever Snapchat gives you and paste the whole thing, including anything after a question mark. Trimming the link is the single most common reason a paste fails.

Why Lens links do not work
A Lens is an augmented reality filter. It is a set of instructions your phone runs against the camera in real time, not a video file sitting on a server. When you copy a Lens link you are copying a pointer to that filter, and there is no finished video behind it to download.
The way around it is simple. Open the Lens in Snapchat, record a Snap or a Spotlight with it, post it, then copy the link to that post. Now you have real video and it downloads normally.
If a link does not work
Almost every failure falls into one of these five.
The account is private
Snapchat publishes nothing for private accounts. There is no workaround, and any site that claims otherwise is either lying or about to ask for your password. Never give a downloader your Snapchat login.
The Story expired
Regular Stories disappear after 24 hours. Once Snapchat removes the file it is gone from their servers too. Highlights are the exception, because the creator chose to keep them.
The profile has no public content
From the outside this looks identical to a private account, but it is not the same thing. Plenty of public accounts simply have no Highlights or Spotlights posted, so there is nothing to return.
The link got trimmed
Copying by hand and dropping everything after the question mark breaks some link types. Use the Copy Link button instead of selecting the text.
Snapchat changed something
Snapchat reorganises how it stores media every few months and downloaders break until they catch up. If a link format that used to work suddenly stops, this is usually why.
About the file you get
Resolution depends entirely on how the video was recorded and uploaded. Snapchat does not store one fixed size. Most Spotlight video comes down at vertical HD, while older Stories can be noticeably smaller. No setting anywhere improves this, because the file is simply whatever the creator uploaded.
Watermarks work the same way. We do not add one. If the creator burned a watermark into the video before posting, or used a template that included one, it stays in the file, because it is part of the video rather than something layered on afterwards.
Videos arrive as MP4 and photos as JPG. Both open in anything.
Privacy, described accurately
You do not sign in, and we never ask for a Snapchat password. There is no account to create. We keep no record of what you download tied to you. The server does keep short-lived request logs with IP addresses, which is standard and is what stops the tool being hammered by bots. Download links expire after twelve hours.
On the question everyone actually asks: Snapchat does not tell a creator that a specific person saved their public post. Public Stories and Spotlight videos show creators a view count, not a list of names. That is how Snapchat works, not something this tool adds or removes. Screenshot notifications inside the app are a separate feature that applies to private snaps and chats, which this tool cannot reach anyway.

Do I need a Snapchat account?
No. There is nothing to sign up for and no password field anywhere on this site. Only content that has already been posted publicly can be reached.
Is it free?
Yes. The site is paid for by ads.
Will the person know I downloaded their Story?
No. Snapchat does not notify creators when someone saves a public post. Public Stories and Spotlight videos show creators a view count, not a list of names.
Can I download a private account's Stories?
No. Private accounts publish nothing publicly, so there is nothing available to fetch. Any site claiming to do this is not being straight with you, and none of them should ever get your Snapchat password.
Why did my Highlight only return some of the snaps?
Snapchat sometimes serves a partial list to visitors who are not signed in. Reload the Highlight page in your browser, copy the link again, and try once more.
Does it work on iPhone?
Yes, in Safari or any other browser. Downloaded videos land in your Files app, and you can move them into Photos from there. That is an iOS behaviour rather than something this site controls.
Can I download a Lens?
Not directly. A Lens is a camera filter rather than a video file. Record something using the Lens, post it, then download that post.
How long do download links last?
Twelve hours. After that, paste the Snapchat link again and a fresh one is generated.
What formats do I get?
Videos come down as MP4 and photos as JPG. Resolution matches whatever the creator originally uploaded, because the file is served exactly as Snapchat stores it.
