Who runs this

Snapchat Saver is built and maintained by Farid Honarvar, a web developer working mainly on PHP backends, Cloudflare Workers and multilingual sites. It is a one person project rather than a company, which is worth saying plainly: when something breaks, one person fixes it, and replies arrive in a day or two rather than in minutes.

What this site does

You paste a link to something already posted publicly on Snapchat. The public page for that content is read, the media file behind it is identified, and that file is passed to your browser as an ordinary MP4 or JPG. Nothing is re-encoded, and nothing is kept on our servers afterwards.

There is no account, no app to install, and no password field anywhere on this site.

How the claims here were checked

Every statement about what works came from pasting real links and looking at what actually came back, not from assuming. Several of those tests contradicted what we expected, and the corrections are published rather than quietly dropped.

• •We assumed a link copied from the mobile app was just a shorter version of a browser link. It is not. The app produces a short code that has to be resolved before anything can be read, and links copied from the app failed until that was handled properly.
• •We assumed Lens links pointed at a video. They do not. Testing one returned only small thumbnail images with no media behind them, which is why Lens links now return a clear explanation instead of a handful of useless files.
• •We assumed the content type could be inferred from the link. It cannot. Snapchat serves media from addresses with no file extension, and photos were being handed over named as videos. The file type is now read from the server response instead of guessed.

Publishing the misses matters more than publishing the hits. Anyone can list what works. Showing what turned out to be wrong is how you tell whether anything was checked at all.

What this site will not claim

No tool can reach a private Snapchat account. Private accounts publish nothing to the open web, so there is no page to read and no file to fetch. Where you see a site claiming otherwise, it is either wasting your time or preparing to ask for your Snapchat password. Nobody should ever have that but you.

We also do not claim to improve quality. The resolution you get is whatever the creator uploaded, because the file is served exactly as Snapchat stores it. Sites advertising an upgrade to 4K are enlarging the image after the fact, which adds pixels and no detail.

And we do not claim to remove watermarks. Nothing is added by us, but a watermark burned into the video by its creator is part of the video and stays there.

When things break

Snapchat reorganises how it stores media on its public pages every few months. When that happens tools like this one stop finding what they expect, usually for one link type at a time, and they stay broken until someone notices and adapts.

If a link format that used to work has stopped, telling me is genuinely useful. Platforms change without warning and I do not always notice first.

Privacy and what is kept

There is no account, and downloads are not logged against you. The server keeps short-lived request logs containing IP addresses, which is ordinary practice and is what stops automated traffic overwhelming the tool. Download links expire after twelve hours.

This site is free because it shows adverts, and those advertising partners set their own cookies. The privacy policy names them and explains how to change your choice.
